PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. The goal and primary responsibility of ALL A-O employees is to continuously improve the educational environment and education of our students.
  2. Understands the proper administrative chain of command and refers all requests and grievances through proper channels. 
  3. Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times.
  4. Assist with mowing and trimming grass.
  5. Shovel snow and/or salt walks and steps as appropriate.
  6. Assume responsibility for opening the building(s) and turning off the security systems each school day as assigned.   
  7. Check daily to ensure that appropriate entrance doors are open and panic bolts are working properly during hours of building occupancy.
  8. Assume responsibility for the proper use of commercial cleaning chemicals, including participation in training sessions on the proper use of chemicals and proper techniques for floor care, etc. provided by the school district.
  9. Clean, sweep, and burnish classrooms and corridors as assigned/needed.
  10. Clean and disinfect restrooms and drinking fountains as needed.
  11. Make minor repairs, such as a running toilet, clogged toilet, or light bulb replacement.
  12. Report other repair needs promptly to the Maintenance Director and principal.
  13. Report immediately to the principal any damage to school property.
  14. Remain on the school premises during hours when the use of the building has been authorized and the custodian’s presence is required by the principal.
  15. Remain at work until the designated end of the work day unless given permission to leave early by the building principal.
  16. Report the need for additional cleaning supplies to the designated person far enough in advance that the supplies may be delivered in such time as will not hinder the custodian in his/her duties.
  17. Move furniture or equipment within the buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the principal.
  18. Empty trash daily.
  19. Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
  20. Assist with district-wide cleaning and general maintenance work as required.
  21. Set up, tear down, clean, and insure the appropriate disposal of trash in the cafeteria.
  22. Set up, tear down, for extra-curricular activities as directed.
  23. Complete and submit accurate time-sheet on a monthly basis to building principal.
