As a Surgical Neurophysiologist, you will play a crucial role in surgical procedures involving the nervous system. You will monitor and interpret neurophysiological data in real-time to ensure the safety and integrity of a patient's nervous system during surgery. Your expertise will help surgical teams make informed decisions and minimize the risk of neurological complications. This role demands a high level of precision, attention to detail, and collaboration with surgical and medical staff.


  • Neurophysiological Monitoring: Monitor and record electrical signals from the nervous system during surgical procedures, including motor and sensory pathways, somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEPs), and electromyography (EMG).
  • Real-Time Analysis: Continuously assess neurophysiological data, promptly identifying any deviations or abnormalities, and communicate findings to the surgical team.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical professionals to develop and implement neurophysiological monitoring plans tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of neurophysiological data, surgical events, and interventions.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot equipment and technical issues related to neurophysiological monitoring to ensure uninterrupted data acquisition.
  • Patient Safety: Prioritize patient safety by providing immediate feedback to the surgical team and assisting in adjusting surgical approaches if necessary to avoid nerve damage.
  • Education and Training: Stay updated on the latest advancements in neurophysiological monitoring techniques and technologies, and provide training and guidance to surgical staff when required.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance initiatives to maintain and improve the quality of neurophysiological monitoring services.
