If you are a maker of lists, if you instinctively know which news stories matter to Tucsonans, if you carry a Sharpie to correct spelling and grammar on menus and advertising posters, you would thrive as a production editor at the Arizona Daily Star. Our production editors plan every page for each day's print edition of the Arizona Daily Star. They use their journalism training and experience to choose national and international news and sports stories that are most relevant to Tucson readers. They are the last set of eyes on news stories and we depend on them to find and correct grammatical and syntax errors, typos and logic problems with stories, headlines and cutlines. They edit stories, photos, graphics and other elements for accuracy, clarity, relevance, fairness, structure, style, good taste and privacy issues. Because they work closely with remote designers, they must be attentive to detail and able to follow a plan carefully and independently. They must be comfortable making decisions but know when to ask questions. Some days they work alongside other production editors, and some they they work independently, planning and executing the entire news or sports section with input from the section editor. We want production editors who live in Tucson or know the city well so they understand the community and know how to spell the street names, but if you join our team you can work in our newsroom or from home.
