Job Duties
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Approve, guide, and manage all contracts, purchasing card transactions, requisitions, and budget adjustments within designated university areas
- Advise on financial, human resources, operational, and administrative matters
- Oversight of financial collaborations and preparation of substantial planning
- Oversight of ensuring university policies are adhered to
- Oversight of annual budgets and planning documents to monitor balances and expenditures to ensure the financial integrity of departmental, grant, and designated budgets
- Create and improve financial management operations
- Organize and analyze financial and statistical data to prepare financial and non-financial reports
- Plan and facilitate financial training to improve operations as well as staff development workshop activities
- Provides executive support for academic financial matters, including strategic budget planning, project management, and clarification of financial and budgetary policies and procedures
- Utilize effective interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to handle special administrative and troubleshooting projects
- Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds
- Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and classes as the immediate supervisor requires
- Contributes to the organization's overall success by performing all other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned, maintaining high levels of accuracy, maintaining a professional demeanor and appropriate levels of confidentiality, and providing excellent customer service
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in a business discipline in accounting, finance, or business administration from an accredited college or university.
- least three years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, or business administration.
- Demonstrated outstanding analytical skills that allow for interpretation of budgetary, financial, and related organization performance or management information
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of budget management and financial planning principles.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize competing priorities
- Collaborates well with internal and external colleagues and is flexible concerning unanticipated shifts in priorities
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage due dates
- Exercise initiative and judgment in analyzing divisional budget information and variance analysis
- Strong presentation skills; strong skills in working in the Google environment
- Ability to adapt and quickly learn new software applications as needed
- Strong preference for a master's degree in accounting, finance, or an MBA
- Experience in higher education
- Four years of responsible financial analysis experience
- Experience in grant financial administration
- Familiar with Banner system
