Job Description
General Description: Responsible for the development, implementation, management, and assessments of co-curricular programming for NOVA Online. Works with students and faculty to facilitate programming to enhance the virtual learning experience. Collaborates externally and internally regarding effectiveness of the overall NOVA Online through presentations and/or conference attendance.
Duties and Tasks: Develop, implement, manage, and assess student life program for large distance learning program (NOVA Online); Facilitate a program of student life activities, both virtual and in-person, to offer a comprehensive co-curricular experience for online students; Responsible for all phases of collaborating, coordinating, planning, promoting, and delivering all events; Facilitate and supervise student participation in Virtual Student Union and social media; Further develop Virtual Student Union concept and work with technical staff and/or vendors to enhance platform and features; Assist students in creating and running online student clubs; Serve as part of college-wide Student Activities Leadership Team and involve distance learning students and program in college-wide student life opportunities as appropriate; Stay abreast of developments in the field of student life for higher education and in the field of distance learning, bringing innovative approaches to NOVA Online in combining these two usually distinct fields; Present at conferences and/or publish about NOVA Online’s work in student life for online learners.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with several years of experience in student life/student affairs, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Some experience advising/mentoring students in a higher education environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or a related field.
Experience with distance learning.
Experience working in a community college setting.
Experience using social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter) in a professional environment.
Experience developing and delivering webinars or online meetings.
Basic web editing and web design skills.
