Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. The College of Medicine, Department of Surgery, and Division of Urology is seeking a full-time Mid-Level Provider (Nurse Practitioner) to support urology office clinical responsibilities in the outpatient settings. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to provide excellent patient care.

Under our urology faculty supervision and mentorship, the candidate will assist in providing comprehensive, continuous, and personalized care to patients in the Division of Urology. This position will be focused on general urology. Our urology faculty and urology experienced advanced level providers will be available to teach and support the new candidate to take on her/his clinical responsibilities as needed.

This position will work at various locations include West Chester Hospital (WCH), University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC) and other sites on a work schedule from Monday through Friday..

Essential Functions
  • Collect developmental history and physical examination of our urology patients.
  • Evaluate and manage urology postoperative patients
  • Help with pre-operative preparation for our urology patients. This includes procedure counseling, obtaining patients' surgical consent in the office and submitting the pre-operative orders.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Participate in research and development projects.
  • Order supplies as necessary; stock and maintain rooms.
  • Provide direct supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.
Required Education

For Nurse Practitioner:
Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.

For Physician Assistant:
Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Required Trainings/Certifications

For Nurse Practitioner:
  • Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority.
  • Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty.
For Physician Assistant:
  • Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Required Experience

For Nurse Practitioner:
  • Three (3) years nursing experience.
  • Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.
For Physician Assistant:
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience is required.
  • Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.
Additional Qualifications Considered

Urology background experience is ideal but not mandatory.
