Job Description

This is a position in community and clinical research in the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics at the UMKC School of Medicine. The Research Assistant/Sr. Research Assistant is responsible for collecting information from participants according to the research study protocols. They may conduct interviews, epidemiological, social or behavioral assessments, and collect data and/or biological samples from research participants in studies.

Research Assistant Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • May recruit, screen and schedule potential study participants
  • Utilizes approved informed consent and HIPAA procedures
  • Administers tests and questionnaires including the assessment of participant eligibility according to research study protocols
  • Helps maintain study procedure documentation
  • Prepares study related materials
  • May assist with data entry, cleaning and guided analysis
  • Monitors study participants as required by study protocol, including physical assessments
  • Collect biologic specimens via phlebotomy
  • Maintains supply inventory
  • May utilize study-related devices and equipment as part of assessment procedures
  • Maintains study records and edits for completeness and accuracy
  • Attends regular team meetings
  • Troubleshoots field issues when necessary, uses discretion to resolve issues when unplanned events arise
  • Additional duties as assigned
Senior Research Assistant Responsibilities:

Will include the above duties and responsibilities, as well as may supervise student research assistants and part-time research assistants while maintaining compliance standards.

Spanish language skills are desirable.

  • Bachelor's degree
Senior Research Assistant
  • Masters Degree
Preferred Qualifications

Prior work in health sciences

Prior data collection experience or clinical experience

Prior work with research study protocol

Other Information

Full-Time, benefit eligible, unranked/non-tenure track academic position. Contract is 12 months.

Salary is commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
