Job Summary

The Eccles Health Sciences Library ( EHSL) and is seeking a new partner in helping us improve the tech support for the students, staff, faculty, and patrons of the library as well as for the Eccles Health Sciences Education Building ( EHSEB).

In this position you will be the first line of support for users seeking help with technology in the buildings. These will include PC and Mac computers, A/V equipment, peripherals, printers, networking, and software. You will assist patrons with their personal devices as well, including their phones, laptops, tablets, and other computing devices.

Responsibilities

Computer Operator will provide tier 1 technical support and implementation of computer technology solutions to the library and the EHSEB. In a team environment, the individual will participate in the delivery of computing services to in-house and remote users of the library. The individual will be the first contact for technology support for classes, instructors, students, staff, and others with questions related to computer hardware, software, audio/visual, web services, printing, and other related technologies.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of computer operations experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

Work experience in using MacOS, Windows, basic networking and knowledge of predominant operating systems in the current computing environment highly preferred. Additional experience troubleshooting audio visual components including technologies such as microphones, projectors, and control units (e.g.- Crestron). Candidates should have a proven ability to work in a team environment while exercising a high level of reliability, communication and cooperation with colleagues. Preference will be given to those candidates with educational training in computer sciences, information systems, or related degrees in computing.
